In early 2013, we approached one of Canada’s largest turkey producers about the accuracy of their energy utility invoices. Like so many customers, their staff believed their bills were accurate. Why shouldn’t they? It is a regulated utility after all. However, what they learned shocked them and their executive management group even more.
Looking to cut costs, their management asked us to complete a quick review of the past couple years.
We reviewed utility bills for over 40 accounts and found significant errors for 2011 and 2012.
We contacted their local utility and provided our data to them. The utility initially shrugged off our attempts to discuss the disputed items but after our persistence the utility agreed to hear our case.
Within 60 days, the utility agreed with our data and issued a credit on each account for an enterprise total of $ 90,000 over a two year period.
